My name is Zachary Filtz, I generally go by the name Zach. I have a separate blog that I run from this, albeit somewhat inconsistently.
In my opinion, now that the digital age has been in its full swing for nearly a decade, blogging is very important to aspiring journalists. Blogging itself is a way to share content with others over the Internet. This means that items such as crowd-sourcing and the like are essential to the development of news, new ideas for products from firms, etc.
Per the text from the Briggs Journalism Next book, old-school journalism (so to speak) is on a downward trajectory. However, this does not mean that span of journalism has stopped, but rather through electronic means has expanded and will continue to expand. I think this is due to the growth and availability of the Internet. And with the Internet, the final frontier will not be in sight for the world of blog-journalism.
